School Dinner & Packed Lunch

We know that eating a good meal is extremely important to the wellbeing of all children, both mentally and physically. Therefore we aim to offer the right balance when it comes to your children’s meals at lunchtime. Our chefs work closely with the school and the council to ensure that the meals being provided are always of the highest quality, and still affordable.

Knebworth school is dedicated to providing an environment that promotes healthy eating and enabling pupils to make informed choices about the food they eat. This will be achieved by the whole school approach to food and nutrition set out in our Food and Packed Lunch policy.

The policy was formulated through various consultation methods between members of staff, governors, parents, FOKS, pupils, and our school nurse.

The nutritional principles of this policy are based on the findings of the National Diet and Nutrition Survey of 4 to 18 year olds; the 1991 Dietary Reference Values for Food Energy and Nutrients for the UK; and the ’eatwell plate’ (formally the Balance of Good Health (BOGH)
